The idea that gave birth to this foundation is based on the following biblical principles: - “Love your neighbor as yourself” (Matthew - “Whatever you wish that men would do to you, do so to them” (Matthew - “Faith without deeds is dead” (James The founders of this foundation are Milton and Linda Hanson, two Christian missionaries, husband and wife, American doctors with different specialties. Now president and vice president of the foundation, when they came to When a door opened before the Hansons to come to The Biblical basis which was and still is the foundation of their work here is from Revelation 3:8:”I know your works. Behold, I have set before you an open door, which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept my word and have not denied my name.” From the very first days of activity, the foundation was truly an open door to all patients no matter their age, social category, race, nationality, ethnic origins, language, religion, gender and sexual orientation. While the number of patients was increasing, there was also a higher percentage of the social needs among the patients with strained material situation. So based on this conclusion we started offering assistance and low cost consultations to the people with low income and assistance and free medical exams to patients with no income or under the limit of subsistence. Gradually, we noticed a higher demand among elderly ladies to communicate and socialize with other people. So starting from that need we initiated a Social Club, which still runs today under the name:”Ladies Social Club.” Beginning with 2006 we have extended the area of services. Among medical services we have also included the following: - information of patients in regards to their rights given by law; - assisting the patients in the process of obtaining their rights; - social counseling; - social time and various activities for the elderly ladies free time; - support for community (re)integration of social cases, homeless people, persons with disabilities, refugees and ethnic minorities. |
